Derrick Krantz Fills In For Neil Magny At UFC Rochester • MMA News
Yesterday, Neil Magny had to withdraw from his scheduled bout in the co-main event against Vicente Luque. Now, just five days from the event, the UFC has found Luque a new opponent in LFA veteran, Derrick Krantz.
Krantz was the subject of the highlight reel knockout, where Dana White was in attendance for “Dana White Looking for a Fight.” There the President signed Krantz to fight on the Contender Series.
The news of Krantz’s signing the fight contract was announced by his gym, Team 515 on Instagram.
“Finally Derrick Krantz gets the UFC contract, 5 days notice against a top 15 opponent. No problem, he’s ready,” they posted.
The 31-year-old is riding a two-fight winning streak to improve his MMA record to 22-10. In his career he as notable wins over the likes of Charles Byrd and Justin Patterson among others.
Luque, meanwhile, is riding a four-fight winning streak with wins over Bryan Barberena, Jalin Turner, Niko Price and Chad Laprise. The 27-year-old was set for a step-up in competition before Magny had to withdraw. Luque also has wins over the likes of Belal Muhammad and light heavyweight contender, Thiago Santos, where Luque knocked him out on the regional scenes.
As of right now, there is no word if this fight will remain the co-main event or if the UFC will change the bout order.
