Warlley Alves Wants Colby Covington Rematch, Believes He Beats Him ‘Faster Than Last Time’ • MMA News
Warlley Alves had a dominant knockout win over Sergio Moraes at UFC 237, and the Brazilian is already eyeing his next opponent.
The 28-year-old wants to rematch Colby Covington who he beat at UFC 194 by submission in the first round in just 86 seconds.
“Colby Covington, to me, is a personal matter,” Alves said to Portal do Vale Tudo(h/t Bloody Elbow). “I’m very patriotic, I love my country very much and I won’t let the things he said slide. He has his merits, he fought big names, he’s up there. I suffered a loss, so it would be arrogant for me to ask to fight him now. But I can tell you this, Colby Covington, it may take 10, 50 years, but we will meet again. When we do, it will be faster than the last time, and you know what I mean.”
Although Alves wants that fight, all signs point towards Covington fighting Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title sometime this year. The two have gone back-and-forth with each other and their rivalry is only getting bigger.
Alves, meanwhile, got back into the win column his last fight out after losing to James Krause. Before that, the Brazilian beat Sultan Aliev and Salim Touahri.
